Birth Control After Ectopic Pregnancies

I have survived two undetected ruptured ectopic pregnancies. Fortunately, I have since had a successful pregnancy via IVF. I have heard that even though I don't have any tubes to speak of and the ends are sewn up, that I can still get pregnant with another ectopic pregnancy. Is it possible, and if it is, how is it possible? What are the chances?

Should someone in my position use birth control?

I welcome any information or thoughts on this subject before approaching my own ob/gyn.

Thank you in advance for your input.
