I am 25 years old and have not had my period for about 6 months. I know I'm not pregnant, b/c I'm not sexually active. I've always had very irregular menstrual cycles--I started menstruating around the age of 13, and since then, my periods would usually last 8-10 days or longer (usually light flow) and I would have them for what seemed like twice a month (i.e., almost 3 weeks of menstruation and 1 week menstruation-free per month). Then, around last September, I had an exceptionally heavy period (I had to change pads at least 5 times a day and was extremely weak from the loss of blood). After that, I did not have any periods till about January or February of this year. I did not think too much of it, since I was under a lot of stress during that time, and I figured it was due to the stress. However, since February or so, I still have not had any periods, not even light spotting. Starting about 3-4 months ago, I also started experiencing strange sensations in my pelvic area-- everything from stinging sensations, to just a heavy feeling, to outright pain (but never very severe). I think I generally experience these sensations a week or so from the time I would normally get my periods--almost like I was experiencing PMS symptoms without actually getting my period. Foolish as it may be, I still was not extremely concerned, b/c I still attibuted it all to stress. This past month, however, these sensations persisted for at least 2 weeks and were more intense, and I'm becoming more concerned. I have scheduled an appointment with a GYN, but I would like to have some expectation of what type of problem this may be and what questions I should ask my doctor. Thank you for your time!
