Dermoid TumorFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 11 Jul 1997 20:05:13 -0500 (CDT)
I am having a bening dermoid tumor removed from my ovary in August and have a few concerns. I am 24 years old and I my husband and I are ready to start our family. My doctor says that I may have to have the ovary removed, but that's "worst case scenario" and if so, it will not affect my fertility or ability to get pregnant. As I have been researching these type of tumors and the removal proceess, I am finding that it is very likely that the ovary will be removed and that it should not have a "large" impact on fertility. I feel as if my doctor is not being completely honest with me. I would like to here from another doctor as to the possible consequences of this procedure? Thank you so kindly for your time.
