Kelly, I think the important thing to realize here is that Dr. Hill said that the risks were greater IF you have a cesarean after going into labor! And that info, I believe, is based on ONE research study from the New England Journal of Medicine in Sept. 1996, which came out with results that complications for the mother were greater if a cesarean occurred after an unsuccessful attempt at a vaginal delivery. I would be quite skeptical, and as long as there is not a medical reason for a repeat cesarean (which was indicated to me in your email reply), then your doctor should be encouraging you to try a VBAC. The ACOG has formally stated that VBAC is safer than repeat elective cesarean, and doctors should be encouraging it. As far as scheduling goes, setting up a cesarean at 9am vs. 2 am is more convenient for the doctor... not more convenient for the baby. An OR team should NEVER be sleepy, no matter WHAT time an operation occurs. That is a flimsy excuse for scheduling a cesarean.
