The approach to take depends on many factors. There are medications available that will shrink the fibroids, stop the bleeding and pain. They are expensive, however, and are only temporary. If you are having such severe symptoms from the fibroids you probably should consider hysterectomy, as the problems tend to get worse as long as your ovaries are continuing to function - which should be at least another ten years.
