Progesterone Supplements/Pregnancy SymptomsFrom: Rebecca (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 2 Jul 1997 12:23:23 -0500 (CDT)
Hello! Quick background: I'm 29 years old, basically healthy, trying to conceive my first child. Last month I took a midluteal progesterone serum test and got a level of 8.4 at 7 days past ovulation. My doctor prescribed progesterone supplements. I just started them this cycle after I got my temperature spike (8 days ago) -- I take 100 mg., three times a day. Shortly after the spike, I started experiencing achey breasts and pre-menstrual-like cramps. I understand these are common symptoms of taking progesterone (although my doctor didn't tell me that! luckily some other people did!). My first question is, will these symptoms occur every month that I take the supplements, or will my body eventually adjust to the extra progesterone? It's kind of upsetting to feel this way and not even be able to be excited, thinking you might be pregnant! Also, I'm concerned about other effects: will the supplements #1 -- prevent me from getting my period and #2-- cause me to get a false positive on a home pregnancy test? Thank you,
-- Rebecca Rook
