Re: How can I get rid of the pain caused by ovarian cysts?!?!From: Geffrey H. Klein, MD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 2 Jul 1997 10:28:17 -0500

Catherine... Sorry to hear that you are having so much pain.. There are some additional pieces of information necessary to help you with your problem. Where is the pain? Does it shoot anywhere else? How severe is it? (scale 1 to 10) Can you describe the nature of the pain. Is it crampy, sharp, dull, etc? Does it come and go or is it constant? Any associated symptoms like nausea and vomiting? Has it been present for less than 72 hrs? When was your last menstrual period? Have you had any fever? Has your urine been evaluated for infection, blood, or pregnancy? If so, what are the results? Any other lab work that was done at the emergency room. What did the ultrasound show exactly. Cyst? How large? Solid componenets of the cyst? Fluid in the abdominal cavity? You may be a candidate for diagnostic/operative laparoscopy.. This could shed some light on the cause for your pain and provide therapy to resolve this acute episode.. Please consult a gynecologist and have the above information with you.. If the acute episode is resolved, you should still have one doctor that cares for you and can make therapeutic recommendations.. Best of luck..
