At 13 weeks, if the patient is heavy, it is difficult to hear fetal heart tones consistently. If the size of the uterus felt fine, the chances are over 99% that everything is O.K. I have a sono in my office, so I'll take a quick peek when I can't hear the heartbeat. I tell patients that from week 13 or 14 (when the "sickness" stuff is gone) until week 18-20 (when they feel movement), they are in pregnancy LIMBO! They occasionally ask themselves..."gee am I REALLY pregnant?" You're feeling fine, not showing, and not feeling movement, so hearing the heart is REASSURING. Overall, I think you have nothing to worry about, but consider this...call the nurse, and ask if you can come in next week just to hear the heartbeat (which often the nurse can check for you without you having to see the doctor). Good luck!
