I can tell you that 18 days of bleeding is not normal. It could be do to many things, such as an undiagnosed pregnancy, fibroids, an ovarian cyst, a cervical problem, a hormonal imbalance (poss. lack of ovulation, possible pre-menopause), a thyroid disorder, and more. An ob/gyn would get more history, perform a pelvic axamination and possibly a pelvic ultrasound, possibly perform an endometrial biopsy - after verifying a negative preg test - (slightly uncomfortable way to get tissue from inside the uterine cavity), and then poss. run some blood tests (hormonal, thyroid, CBC to check for anemia, and others depending on your history). Ultimately, this problem is NEARLY always fixable, and rarely a sign of something seriuos like cancer, but I do advise you to be checked. Sincerely,
