I went for my 13 week check up and the doctor said the baby was "too deep in the pelvic cavity" to be able to hear the heartbeat, plus i am overweight what exactly does the too deep in the pelvic mean? shouldnt the baby be out of there at this point in the pregnancy. shouldnt i hear a heartbeat at that point in pregnancy regardless of size and/or location? (it was taken with those hand held devices not a stethescope)

He ordered no u/s since he said the size felt ok....i am still concerned probably and hopefully for no reason

thank you
