Re: Faint Positive on Preg TestFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 12 Jun 1997 17:34:56 -0400 (EDT)
In a message dated 97-06-12 14:51:01 EDT, you write:
<< My questions are these--1) Do I dare hope--is this faint positive
common? 2) Could the herbs I was taking affect the result of the test?
3) Could I really have conceived, even with the whacky results above? 4)
How long should I wait for a blood test to be accurate? and 5) Is it
common that a doctor not see you until week 9 at the earliest? Lots of
questions, I know--but I really value the information provided at this
forum (and after trying for so long, I of course am anxious and
impatient)! Thanks in advance.
>> Hi! I hope congratulations will be in order for you soon! I remember how excited I was to take that pregnancy test and when it came up positive I didn't believe it, so I ran out and bought another brand and did it again the next day and it, too, was positive. I would think that two positives (even faint) might be an encouraging sign! It will be interesting to see what the doctors say about the effects of the herbals. I think that 8-9 week first visit is pretty standard. As a pregnant woman, you want to get in there as early as possible and get started on that prenatal road, but I'm sure there are good reasons for the wait (and one being working into their schedule!). It could be that with the rate of early miscarriages, etc. that it eliminates some unecessary appointments for both doctors and patients (but I'm hoping yours won't be one of them!). Again, the doctors will be able to explain this better than I can! To ease your mind, you might want to wait a few days (I think at least 3 are recommended) and try another test and see if the results are a stronger positive. I know that we all have different levels of the pregnancy hormone and maybe yours are just lower so the positive sign is a little fainter. Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll have a little one in your arms SOON! Darcy Johnson Co-Moderator, Womens Health Forum
