Dr. Hill,

I was very interested in your response. When I had my first exam as a teen, I remember my mom explaining to me that a nurse would be present for the exam and true to her word, there always was one in the room with me when the doctor was there.

Since moving to San Diego, though, and seeing my OB-GYN each year, I was surprised to find that his nurse is NEVER in the room with us. Not that I have anything to worry about...he's a wonderful, caring doctor, but I had though it was pretty standard practice to have an assistant there. Just thought you'd be interested to know that there is a male practioner out there who does his exams "solo"! :-)
