luteal phases-infertilityFrom: Brandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 8 Jun 1997 16:37:54 -0500 (CDT)
I have a friend who is trying to get pregnant. Six years ago her husband had a vasactomy which was reversed a little over a year ago. Since then they have been taking her temperature, monitoring her ovulation and having sex. She has been getting frustrated in the last few months and has been to several infertility chat groups. She has heard many horror stories and when she told them her story, they told her that she may have a short luteal phase and that she was infertile because she had been trying for a little over a year. My friend has a strange menstrual cycle. Some months it lasts 28 days to 31 days and there is no pattern. She has a milk allergy that prevents her from intaking any type of dairy product, and she has been taking her temperature everyday for a month and it has not changed. She says that she does not want to take any drugs because of thier side effects and instead of going to the doctor she has decided to look into adoption. I respect any decision that she makes, but I don't think that she has all of the facts and I would hate to see her miss out on the joy of being pregnant because she doesn't have all the information. Can you help?
