No matter how we determine gestational age it is always an ESTIMATE -- EDC (estimated date of confinement = due date) is plus/minus 14 days when based on LMP; an ultrasound at 8 weeks has a range of plus/minus 5-7 days, at 20 weeks =, the range is 10 days, and after 26 weeks it's plus/minus 3 weeks!

The bottom line, your ultrasound at 8 weeks 5 days confirmed your original EDC (it was within 3 days), so I would use your LMP-derived dates to schedule tests (ALL the tests we do -- CVS, amnio, AFP testing -- are done within a range of gestational ages).

Hope this helps.
