I used to participate in a newsgroup dedicated to menopause support. Even the mention of medical treatments for gynecologic problems (for example, saying "there are 20 different ways to treat this problem, including x,x,x,x,x,x, and hysterectomy")was enough to set off a few rather radical people. Look, folks, the mention of hysterectomy as a valid treatment option does *not* mean the doctor is advocating this as the first-line treatment, nor does it mean that she or he even agrees with this as a treatment method. I was flamed repeatedly on this group, despite receiving over 20 private e-mails a day asking me to stay on and provide a well-rouned viewpoint. I finally gave up. The doctors and others I have "met" on this group all seem to share a common goal: teaching and helping others. Nobody wants a medal or a pat on the back. We get as much out of this as the women who post here! However, this is a voluntary endeavor and significantly cuts in to the limited free time Ob/Gyn doctors have. I sure don't want to be coddled, and I don't care if someone disagrees with me, but there are reasonable and appropriate ways to disagree. Flaming someone is *not* one of them. Thanks again, Ashley
