Advice needed for fibroid uterusFrom: S. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 May 1997 11:34:50 -0500
I am 52 yrs still having menstruation until this month.I was diagnosed fibroid tumor since 6 yrs ago. Ultrasound findings showed a irregular anteverted uterus measuring a/p 84 mm.,longit 91 mm. there is a 7 cm fibroid in the left side og the uterus. Both ovaries seemed normal, with no cyst or follicels, the pod is clear ,no free fluid is seen.I thought to wait for my menopause in the hope it will shrink, but it is still not coming.Since I feel it has become larger and now I have this feeling of pressura on my bladder, I thought to get over with it. My last ultrasound exam showed the uterus has enlarged to a/p 119 mm, longit 128 mm.the myoma is now 90 mm in diam. bloodflow resistance decreased from 0.592 to 0.49. My question: 1. can a benign fibroid become malignant? 2. What is the meaning of decreased bloodflow resistance? 3. What are my options of treatment? Thank you very much. Mita Kadarisman
