alt.tx. post hysterectomyFrom: Joanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 May 1997 18:09:32 -0400
Hi everyone. I just had a TAH/BSO last week due to extensive stage IV endo. Also needed a bowel resection, but colostomy was avoided due to the effectiveness of the bowel prep. Though my RE, and GI surgeon are both confident they got all of the endo, they want to hold off on ERT for awhile, if I can handle the menopausal symptoms. On discharge I began drinking soy powdered drink mixes, and started taking Evening Primrose Oil, 1 tab tid. This has helped with the symptoms tremendously. My question, is there any danger of taking these, while waiting to be put on ERT, and could this even replace ERT? I had mentioned to my RE prior to surgery, that I had planned to start soy powdered drinks, and asked if any of his patients had any luck with them. His only response at the time, was that he fully intended to start ERT immediately, post surgery, I guess, never dreaming the extensiveness of my disease. I am 43 years old. Thank you for your time.
