As the bleeding give you the impression of a menstruation, the most usual cause of this bleed is a temporary activity of your ovary. We see often this kind of bleeds. But by definition you are postmenopausal after 12 months amenorrhoea and every postmenopausal bleeding needs analysis. Usually we perform a vaginal ultrasound and in case of ovarian activity and/or a certain endometrial thickness we advice progestagens for 10-12 days to be certain that there is no residual proliferative or hyperplastic endometrium. In doubt an endometrial biopsy can be done. In case of recurrent bleeding, even only a little, it is wise to perform a hysteroscopy. See your gynecologist for further advice.
