ovulation detection monitorFrom: Sonja (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 May 1997 00:32:49 -0500 (CDT)
Recently, on a TV medical show, I saw a new procuct for ovulation detection. It is a small monitor much like that used for home blood glucose testing, except that urine is placed on a test strip and inserted into the monitor. It was designed as a birth control product and approved by the Catholic church because it is not a barrier to conception. It simply shows a green light when it is safe to have sex and a red light during the time of ovulation. It is only available in the UK, according to the TV show and sells for about $100. My thoughts on this device are that it would be very useful to a woman who is trying to conceive. It seems much more accurate than the old temperature charts and mucous checking-such a grey area. I believe it also records and saves the information each day which could be helpfulin trying to determine cycles. I live in Australia, but am VERY interested in this product and would appreciate any info, including a manufacturer or supplier's name and address or phone. If anyone out there has heard of it, please let me know. I'll be passing through the UK in 2 months and really want to get my hands on one of these devices. Thank You, Sonja
