BBT Rise, LH+ but not ovulating

I had what looked like a BBT rise on day 16 (after a provera induced period after 3 months of not menstruating), and what looked like a positive result (dark line) with an OPK for an LH surge on day 13 (first day of testing b/c my shortest cycle in the past year had been 31 days). I used the OPK the next two days after the + to see if I had really detected the surge--it gave me a faint line both days.

We had intercourse every day or other day starting at day 9. My BBT has stayed up (fluctuating .2 to .4 degrees from day to day, but not back at the lower levels I was seeing before the rise). I'm now on day 36 and stilll haven't had my period and the home pregnancy test was negative. I know this sounds like I'm anovulatory (I went off the pill 3/96 and have had irregular periods since)--but I'm wondering what else could have caused what looked like a BBT rise and an LH surge, when I wasn't ovulating? I have read that these signals don't necessarily mean that you are ovulating--but what else can they signify? Also, is it normal to still see a faint line when using an OPK for a couple days after a surge?

I posted about a month ago with my history, which included extremely regular periods before going on the pill at 19 (I went off at age 28 just over a year ago). I have had a thyroid and prolactin test, both negative. My doctor's next recommendation is to go on clomid, and I guess the signals are tellling me to do so--are there any other tests I should be asking my doctor about before doing so? I keep waiting for things to "return to normal" and it's now been over a year--I feel like I could be waiting forever and should take action now in case there is something very wrong. Any and all advice welcome--thanks.
