HMO or not, you are entitled to a second opinion and can always request a different doctor. If your HMO has a health care finder service, call that number and ask them for help. If you have to go through your Primary Care Provider to get referrals, and this doctor is the PCM, roll out your best irrate patient miscle and demand a second opinion. There are a lot of tests beyond a screen for STD's that a docotr could do to determine the source of your pain. If he is not an OB/GYN, this may be the problem. Ask for one on referral. Good luck!
