Menstrual Cramps without a periodFrom: Evelyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 Apr 1997 12:04:45 -0500 (CDT)
For the past 2 months, I have been experiencing extreme menstrual cramps on a daily basis. These cramps occurr every other (approx) regardless of when my period comes. I finally went to my doctor two weeks ago and he diagnosed it as clamitia or gonorrhea. Of course, I was very upset since I have only been married since June. He did a pap smear and some cultures. Unfortunately the results would not be available for another 4 or 5 days. So he prescribed the typical antibiotics and sent me on my way. I decided to wait for the tests results before discussing the issue with my husband and as it turned out, that was a good decision. Both test came back negative. When I spoke to the doctor the day of the exam, I specifically asked if there were any other possibilities. He emphatically said no. The antibiotics did nothing for me and I stopped taking them on the seven day since the pain continued (the dosage was for 10 days). Now I am frightened to go back since I feel this doctor does not have a clue. Unfortunately I belong to a HMO and will probably get the same doctor. I realize that I will have to return but am trying to get an idea of what this may be so I can throw these suggestions to him. Please help!!
