Re: Abnormal cells present in pap smear report

An addendum to my previous message--I secured the path report indicating abnormal cells are present. The report of 4/8/97 says: "Epithelial cell abnormality . . .Hyperkeratotic cells are present and this is an abnormal cytopathologic finding. Hyperkeratosis can be associated with both benign and neoplastic conditions." What are hyperketotic cells? I'm clueless! What does this mean? (My last pap smear in 6/96 was negative.)

My apologies for being so "obsessive" about this. Again, I will be grateful for any interpretation and education as to what all this means.
