Re: Helping The Doctors IT'S OUR TURN

I've been following this thread on the ob-gyn doctor's list as well. Some of the doctor's responses there seem to be good indicators as to whether or not I would like them as MY ob-gyn.

I thought I would prefer to have a female dr., but since have had a bad experience with one. I am pregnant with fibroids, and was extremely frustrated with the lack of information that I was getting from doctors. I belong to an HMO and go to a clinic where the drs. take turns being on rotation. The first dr. was a female & she was fine. I really liked the second. He had a good sense of humor and answered my endless stream of questions as best he could. The third dr. was a female and I really disliked the way she talked down to me.

So, I have come to the conclusion that sex is unimportant. What is important, to me anyway, is how willing a dr. is to take the time and answer my questions completely without talking to me like I'm stupid. I hate the air of superiority that some doctors seem to have.

On that note, I think from the reading that I've done on both lists, I would have to say I prefer a style much like Dr. "Harvel the Marvel" Marchbein's. He answers questions with a good sense of humor, to the point, with technical terms that aren't TOO technical, but yet leaving you at ease & satisfied with his responses. I really enjoy reading his posts!
