Each week you delay adds a little risk to the procedure. In general at no stage does the risk to elective abortion under good medical supervision get as high as the risk of carrying a pregnancy to term. So in general, it is safer than delivery. Once you get past 12 weeks pregnancy, the method used for termination of pregnancy changes and becomes slightly more dangerous and definitely more expensive. Some physicians and clinics will only do terminations up to a certain gestational age. This will vary with the physician and the clinic. I hope this answers your question.
