AdenomyosisFrom: sharon (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 06 Apr 1997 17:11:19 +0900
I am 29 years old, have suffered from severe dysmenorrhea since my period started when I was 14. I was diagnosed with adenomyosis at the age of 25 after my first internal examination. My uterus was (and still is) twice it's normal size at that time. From what I have read this disease is common in women in their 40s. who have given birth to several children. (I am single) What are the chances of my uterus not growing so large that it will have to be removed some time in the future. To tell the truth I have to take so much pain medication (Nsaids) every month and have now started the Gnrh analogue Buserelin acetate that I feel if it is in evitable that my uterus must be removed some time in the future, I would rather have it done now before I ruin other parts of my body with all the drugs I have to take, rather than later.
