Depending upon the situation, I start them early postpartum, or occasionally during the pregnancy. If you have a history with one pregnancy, is seems to be more likely to be with the second. Of course, you need to weigh the risks and benefits of the medication. So far it's been successful for most of our clients. Occasinally the depression is more serious, and more serious medications are in order. It's estimated that at least 40% of women develop significant depression postpartum. Some folks feel it is due to the lower levels of hormones postpartum. Pay specific attention to nutritional needs at this time. Hope you are feeling better soon. Pat
