I believe that pre-conceptional counseling is an invaluable and underutilized encounter. It provides the opportunity for identification of medical conditions, reproductive difficulties, genetic disorders, medication hazards, nutritional status, and social factors (ie smoking, domestic violence).

Please insist on this appointment and have your OB-GYN review ACOG's Technical Bulletin Number 205 from May 1995 on Preconceptional Care
