Re: pms and prozacFrom: barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Mar 1997 12:02:28 -0600 (CST)
Dear Pam, I guess the first thing we need to know is: how long have you been on the Prozac It takes a couple of weeks for these drugs to start working and to find out what the side effects are for each person, usually 3 weeks or so...You could also ask your doctor about Zoloft it works very well for PMS. Zoloft tends to give one more energy, but of course all these drugs do a little something different to each of us. The low libido is a very common side effect of SSRO's. This can be resolved over time but is of course a great problem if both partners are not aware of this. I guess the trade-off, wide mood swings vervus very few thoughts of sex is something each of you need to think about. I believe it gets better with time. My elderly neighbor switched from Prozac to Zoloft because she was tired all the time. I don't know about the sex-life part as she is 85 years old!!! I didn't want to ask!! She is much better now after the switch. Hang in there until you get this straightened out..
