Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could help me out in my situation. Our religious beliefs do not allow us to take birth control pills due to their possible abortive effect - because of the thinning of the lining of the uterus, which prevents implantation of the embryo. My wife had a miscarriage some time ago - the doctor prescribed her a 3 months course of birth control pills as it is customary in our country, for some kind of rehabilitation effects. Now we just finished our 3 months and are finally off the pill! We have been eagerly waiting for this moment.. However, we still cannot be sure that it safe for us to have intercourse, because I do not know how fast the lining of the uterus recovers after the pill. (Yes, condoms add a degree of protection, but they may break also). That is the question I wanted to ask here. I know the hormones from the pill are gone, but is the body able to recover enough to support implantation? See, if ovulation is now finally able to occur, but the uterus is not ready - that would cause the embryo to not be able to implant, wouldn't it? Thus making intercourse even more dangerous now than while on the pill! So, can I or cannot I assume that whenever ovulation occurrs, things are back to normal and the uterus lining can support the pregnancy? I am not a doctor, so its hard for me to make the call... I just know some people get pregnant right away, and I also know that fertilization is supposed to signal the uterus lining to build up. However, there are times people get pregnant while on the pill, but that doesn't mean that the pill is not abortive.

Thanks for any help.
