EARLYPREGNANCY: possible first outbreak of herpes showed up two weeks after conceptionFrom: Leyna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 29 Jul 2009 22:46:39 -0500 (CDT)
My name is Leyna, and I will be 7 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I found out I was pregnant 4 days ago, but the day before that I found out that I had gotten herpes. Yesterday I went and saw the prenatal doctor and they took blood for lab...and today I got a sonogram. I am on valtrex. The doctor said that there may be serious neurological problems with my baby because of the herpes and he actually SUGGESTED termination...which really kind of offended me because I don't believe in abortion although I do want to do what is best for the baby. I've been looking online and everything I've read said that they are most worried about women who contract herpes in the last weeks of pregnancy...and is rare for such serious problems in early pregnancy...but the doctor made it sound like he wanted me to make a decision before I even find OUT if the baby has problems...should I find another doctor? I'm just really confused...is what I read online true? That the baby will be getting antibodies and be able to fight it better because it's so early in the pregnancy and could be perfectly healthy?
