PREGNANCY: ultrasound accuracy

I had an abdominal ultrasound on friday at what I thought I should have been at least 7wks since I chart my cycles. The ultrasound was done because of early spotting, early dating and cause I just had a missed miscarriage in april. The ultrasounds average on the baby was only 6wk2d, which is impossible according to my chart, but with a pretty good heart beat at 131bpm. I'm just wondering how far off can the ultrasound machine be? The tech was pretty sure that it was accurate. The quality was very clear which was surprising to me since I thought you were suppose to have transvaginal ultrasounds at this point an with the abdominal have a full bladder, which I had just emptied prior to the ultrasound. Thanks for your help.
