MENOPAUSE: vaginal atrophyFrom: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 May 2009 06:19:44 -0500 (CDT)
I am being treated for vaginal atrophy/ early menopause and nothing seems to be working to ease my symptoms. I have a clear, thin discharge that make my vagina feel like its actually burned. There is intense itching and discomfort with this that makes intercourse impossible. My doctor prescribed Estring which I have been using for 5 months with little improvement. We then added Estrace cream three times a week but it doesn't seem to be helping. I am getting desperate because the discomfort is driving me crazy! My question is could this really be something else altogether and that is why the estrogen isn't working? I have not had any blood work; my doctor says it is early menopause even though I still have a period. If it is, why wouldn't the estrogen be helping?
