CONTRACEPTION: Birth Control and Yeast InfectionsFrom: Brooke (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 May 2009 18:49:20 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, In September I started taking Synthroid and about a month later I got a yeast infection (I know it is not a side effect). This has continued to happen the week before my period for 7 months. Prior to this, I have had only 1 yeast infection in 1998. I had a test run on the yeast and it came back as normal yeast. I am not diabetic and nothing else has changed except starting the Synthroid. I had all sorts of autoimmune tests run and they all came back normal. My md said it could be my birth control pills, Mircette. I have been on that particular pill for at least 5 years. On BCP's for 12 years total. I wasn't sure if all of a sudden that Mircette would have caused some sort of change. I am so confused and no one has been able to answer my question. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
