Hi, In the last few days of pregnancy there is fist effacment to start with follwed by dilation.Labour pain are requires for dilation to occur.If you are a elderly primi then cervical rigidity is known. If cervix does not dilate even after strong pain then onle c.section is needed.There are medicines for cervical dilation and also for ogmanting labour pain.
