Re: ABNORMALPAP: HSIL/Abnormal PapFrom: CLS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Apr 2009 13:47:46 -0500 (CDT)
I'm glad you have a copy of the lab report from the first biopsy. Make sure you get a copy of the second lab report. When I asked my first ex-doctor about the lab report, she was offended, even though by law, it's my right to see it. However, your doctor should have explained all of this to you. In addition, I'd love to hear the reasons why another ECC wasn't done when the words specifically said "insufficient for diagnosis." Please get another doctor, immediately. When you do, 1. Get a thorough discussion of what you have, where it's located, how many cervical quadrants are involved, if dysplasia is in the endocervical canal, and if dysplasia is in the endocervical canal. The doctor can draw a picture if you don't understand. 2. If - and definitely if - you need surgery, get a full discussion of the risks and benefits of all your treatment options, along with possible future complications, before a recommendation. This is a requirement. All options have the same success rate. What a woman has depends on which one is appropriate, and too many doctors want to do the "treatment de jour." You want the doctor to do what is best for you and not what he or she prefers. No matter who you choose to do, make sure you are fully educated so that your decision is informed.
