RVF: how much experience should a RVF specialist have?

I live in Kuwait which is a tiny country with very few RVF cases. I have developed an RVF and there is one doctor here who has had some previous experience over two years ago while do his training in the US, but he is unable to answer my questions such as how long is the recover etc, so I asked to be sent abroad for treatment. While this doctor is an excellent coleorectal surgeon, I don't feel that this qualifies one to repair an RVF. Can anyone tell me what I should look for in a specialist. Am I making the right decision in looking for a specialist with more experience in this specific disease? Thanks
