Dawn, I completely understand where you are, the frustration, the confusion, the pain.....the pain. I am 18 months pain free from doing the following. I am sending to you in hopes that it will work for you. Take care and God bless.

1) Get a diary and track your level of pain, physical activities and daily emotions for a month or longer. Analyze personal relationships and wether or not they are positive, balanced, rewarding and healthy. Document when they are not, how they are not, how you feel, what you are thinking. 2) Please go find this book: A Headache in the Pelvis: A new understanding and treatment for prostatitis and chronic pelvic pain syndromes by David Wise, Ph.D. & Rodney Anderson, M.D. copyright 2006. 4th Edition. 3) You need a really good OB-GYN that understands the "muscles" of the pelvis. If you like your current one, ask him to do some research on pelvic pain, trigger-points, pelvic myofacial pain. etc.... He will write out the muscles that are bad for the physcial therapist to work on, or write the "prescription" for PT that your insurance might need to pay for it. 4) You need to try and find a physical therapist that has been trianed in releasing trigger points in muscles in the pelvic region. Yes, they have to reach them inter vaginally and or rectaly and it is not comfortable to say the least, but it WORKS. I ended up having to drive an hour each way to and from physical therapy, but honestly this WAS WITHOUT A DOUBT the quickest way to getting pain free. They will give you excersices, stretch's to do, DO THEM!!! 5) You need a pain clinic that can prescribe the pain medication that you need and also perform "trigger-point injections into the pelvic region. Call and interview these places on the phone before scheduling an appointment. No sense in wasting your time. The injections contain a solution of anesthesia which "numbs" the muscle and a small amount of steroid which is supposed to "heal" it. In my imagination the PT stretchs the tight muscle and the shot holds it in place. 6) Last, but not least at all is finding a very very very good psychiatrist. I had done the first five steps above on two seperate occassions and was able to feel 100% healed, but only for about one to two months before it all came back. This last time I added a "shrink" to the mix of doctors and it made all the difference in the world. Like I said 18 months pain free feels like a total miracle compared to where I was before. Keep in mind Pelvic muscles are the muscles that you do not consciously control, but there is a portion of your brain that does control them. They are parasympathetic muscles that can be effected by stress without you even knowing it. You have a lot of research and work ahead of you, but I am confident that you can become pain free and will pray that you do. Good luck and please let me know how you are doing. Feel free to contact me directly: kristaemoser@yahoo.com God bless! Krista
