The ideal thing would be to have your provider stop ,wash their hands ,change gloves and continue.In your case ,that did not happen . The pap smear and pelvic exam are not sterile exams.Most STD's and infections require direct body fluid contact.However ,if this happened to me I would react as you did.You could write a letter to your provider ,or if it is a big practice the office manager, expressing your feelings or talk to them directly.If you wish, you could ask to be tested if this would make you feel better.
