CONTRACEPTION: Heart Palpations on the Pill

I'm 29, and I started using contraception for the first time this summer. I was using the patch, but it was too inconvenient so in August I switched to the pill. Within a month, I started noticing heart palpitations, and they're getting more frequent it seems, some lasting for 10 seconds (which is a lot when it's your heart and you can feel it!) I cut out coffee completely, I stopped going to the gym (it seemed to get worse when my heart rate was high due to physical activity), but nothing seemed to help. My job remained the same, stress levels the same as before the palpitations. The only thing I can see as a factor is the Pill. Is it possible the pill is causing the heart palpitations? I don't have money to visit a specialist and have all those tests done; if it can be as simple as going off the pill I will do it. Is this a common occurrence?

Thank you!
