PREGNANCY: Renal Issues during pregnancyFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 31 Dec 2008 15:20:21 -0600 (CST)
Patient presents with flank pain. Renal ultrasound shows possible obstruction. Stent placed with difficulty due to tortuous ureter, literally "folding on itself." Improvement of symptoms x2wks, stent slipped from kidney and coiled into bladder, seen on KUB. Replacement done under minimal fluoroscopy. Incidents repeated over the next 7-8wks with multiple KUBs (5), and "minimal fluoroscopy" used during stent replacements x5. Patient is now 30wks pregnant, and continues to be concerned regarding the effects of the multiple xrays on developing fetus, despite ultrasound studies and NSTs that remain reassuring.
