MISCELLANEOUS: Liver Pain?From: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Dec 2008 23:13:19 -0600 (CST)
I had my son exactly 9 months ago. He was 9 weeks early due to HELLP syndrome. I don't remember the exact numbers but my liver enzymes were really high. Since the baby was born, I have had three "episodes" of pain that feels almost exactly like the liver pain. It hurts behind my ribs (in the center and on both sides) and into my back. It goes away within 6 hours or so, but for that time it is horrible. Every time it happens I come close to going to the emergency room. I have always assumed that it is related to a seperate issue - my colitis. My liver enzymes were on their way back down to normal levels the last time the OB checked (while still in the hospital with the baby) and they never checked again. Is it possible that I'm still having liver pain or is it probably something else? Would the liver pain come and go? The last attack (before last night) was in September.
