PREGNANCY: Did not know I was 2 weeks pregnant and had a laparoscopyFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Dec 2008 11:50:31 -0600 (CST)
Hello, I did not know I was pregnant, and underwent excision surgery (LAPEX) laparoscopically to remove a 5 cm endometrioma and multiple adhesions everywhere. I was given morphine the day of the surgery and vicodin for 3 days after. I was also put on continuous birth control to supress my ovaries, therefore the missing period was expected. I did not realize I was pregnant until I couldn't stand the nausea, something just hit me and I took a home preg test with a positive result. I drove myself to the ER and they told me I was 10 weeks pregnant and the baby had a heartbeat and everything looked ok, but they couldn't tell what the adverse effects of the surgery/medication could be. I have to wait 2 weeks to see my OB/GYN. I am so worried about the effects of anesthesia, laser surgery, pain killers and birth control on my baby. How could they not know I was pregnant at the day of the surgery? they did an urine test.. Should I be worried about my baby? What could be the most harmful thing of the listed above? I don't want to terminate my pregnancy, Thank you so much for your help.
