PREGNANCY: Cervical softening during second trimesterFrom: Nancy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 23 Dec 2008 10:10:14 -0600 (CST)
Hi, to begin with, I had polypectomy performed during 7th week of pregnancy and about a month later, while coughing, I had vaginal bleeding (with some thick mucous). The ultrasound perfomed immediately could not find any cause for this bleeding and fetus was found to be safe. Now, I am currently in 19th week and in routine ultrasound they found that my cervical length is 24 mm and I was immediately put on bed rest and on ibuprofen 600 mgX 4 times a day. I am scheduled for follow-up ultrasound next weekl.I find conflicting information about safetly of ibuprofen on the internet and I am worried about it. This is my second pregnancy. After delivery my first baby,I found that I metabolize faster than normal person while on pain killer percocet and I had to my newborn to emergency room as she was not waking up. My question is whether the treatment course is appropriate and whether my metabolism rate and combination of ibupropen harm my baby in any way? I appreciate any input in this matter. Thank you.
