Welcome to Puberty It is so great that you feel comfortable talking to your health care provider as well as us here at OBGYN.NET about your new findings. The sticky discharge is normal. The light brown could be slight bleeding .When I was your age ,sorry for that reference,it really scared me .Now that I learned many years ago , I am so happy to discuss this. We say that you will get a period within six months of your current observations. You can get sore breasts ,which hurt more with pressure like when laying on your stomach. You might get cramps in the lower front or the lower back.Everyone describes these differently but a heavy feeling, different from gas ,is how I describe cramps to my patients. Another resource to help you is kids health.org. http://kidshealth.org/kid/grow/girlstuff/when_period.html You can prepare by getting a small pack of tampons and pads. You can also get a little case cute but private looking or carry these in sandwich bags as I always did.You are doing a great job preparing for this time.Keep up the self exploration.
