Allie, did your doctor take any biopsies and do an ECC during the colposcopy to validate that you do have mild to moderate dysplasia? In addition, have you

1. Looked at the lab report?

2. Gotten a full discussion of not only what you have, but where it's located, how extensive it is, how many cervical quadrants are involved, if it's in the endocervical canal, and if there is any glandular involvement? (She could draw a picture if that would help.)

3. Did she give you a detailed discussion of the risks and benefits of all your treatment options - cryosurgery, laser, LEEP, and cold knife cone bipsy - before recommending one? This is a requirement.

If you answer "no" to any of those questions, please get a different doctor. That you are asking on a forum about complications to LEEP (and there are risks with any of the surgery options) puts up a red flag about your doctor. You may want to get a different one, period.

In the meantime, to help you understand HPV-caused dysplasia, here is a link.

The internet and the library (especially a medical library) have a host of information for you. But regardless of whether you choose traditional surgery, alternative medicine, a combination of both, or set up Plan A and Plan B, please just make sure you are fully educated so that your decision is informed.
