Re: ENDOMETRIOSIS: laparoscopy /biopsy for endometriosisFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 17 Nov 2008 14:45:27 -0600 (CST)
I would think while your Dr. is in there she'll also remove any adhesions she sees; seems kind of silly to wait until a next surgery. Here is how mine went. If you have questions, don't hesitate to call your Dr. This is YOUR body that is being operated on! You need to know the facts!!! I had a large cyst on my right ovary-after months of misery and false GI diagnoses, they found it and operated. I knew going i before surgery that I might lose my ovary-which I was fine with because I was SO miserable. We also discussed that whatever he needed to do, he'd get it done! Endo wasn't really discussed, but, I think he suspected it. When I came out of surgery I became aware of the endo they found. They were able to remove the endo without the ovary. However, I had some bowel involvement that he could not safely excise, which still causes me problems. I was very swollen and infected inside, and, it just couldn't be done at that time. At some point I may have to have another surgery to have it removed (and there will probably need to be a specialist on hand-gyno's will not tackle this by themselves). There is always the possiblity of a having to have some colon removed, although I know someone personally that was able to avoid it. She used a gynecological surgeon for her endo bowel removal.
So, it just depends. ASK QUESTIONS!!! And, I hope it goes well on
Friday!!!
