CONTRACEPTION: IUD + Birth Control

I am on birth control pills as well as Mirena. This is because of horribly painful ovarian cysts and both forms of birth control seem to keep it under control. However I've heard that since Mirena releases horomones that being on the pill contradicts some of the effectiveness of both forms. Is this true? Is my risk for getting pregnant slightly higher while being on both forms? Thank you for any help and hopefully I can find some answers soon.
