GYNECOLOGIC: chronic labial itchingFrom: Carrie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Oct 2008 16:31:43 -0500 (CDT)
I have been reading the posts and a lot are similar but then again, I have some different symptoms 1. I am not sexually active. Never been 2. I am not menopausal (I am in my late 20's) 3. I have good hygeine. I shower 1-2 times a day I have chronic labial itching. It itches so much that I find it hard to focus during the day and find it even more difficult to sleep at night. I have been using vagisil for about 2 weeks. I had this once before (around June/July) and it cleared up eventually. Boy was I relieved! Now (September/October) It is back and more severe. My habits have not changed. Diet has not changed. I just woke up one morning and it itched and has not stopped since. I scratch, scratch and scratch until it is raw. There is no discharge so I am pretty sure it is not a yeast infection. (I have never had a yeast infection before, but I don't have cottage cheese discharge or foul smell) Vagisil helps, but only short term. It usually wears off within the hour. My urination does not burn. It only burns when it hits the raw area around the labia and I think that is because the skin is chapped. The labia itself is a little inflammed but once again that could be because of the itching. I am just trying to find some relief. Preferably over-the-counter creams but I have no idea if it is fungal, bacterial etc.... Can someone help me? Thanks
