GENERAL: staph infection while pregnantFrom: Newbie3 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Oct 2008 12:51:00 -0500 (CDT)
Im 28 years old and for the past three years I have been having cyst develop from my buttock area down to my genital area. The last 8mos a have had a cyst along my inner thigh that will not go away completely. Ive had test ran which determined it to be a regular staph infection not MRSA. I have been on antibiotics such as Bactrim, Keflex, Augmentin etc. It appears to be in a bunker that has a cell wall up that does not allow the antibiotics to penetrate it. I do not know what to do! It goes down then fills back up, it moves to the alternate thigh or in the pelvis area, ive even had them three at a time in the same area. Im confused as to what I am suppose to do. I have been on antibitics for two months straight until I can get an appotinment with a specialist. My question is will having this recurrent staph infection have an affect on pregnancy? I know some antibiotics shouldnt be taken while pregnant and the ones ive been on are strong. Could having an active staph infection cause complications during preganancy or have an adverse effect on a newborn?
